1st blog Post and my first adventures in Metal Detecting.

Well to start welcome to my new blog. I decided to start it to follow my adventures or lack thereof in metal detecting, coin shooting, relic hunting, and history in general.

Several months back I was given a metal detector by a family member who became disabled and couldn't use it. Brand new in the box was a Bounty Hunter Pioneer 505. Certainly not a top shelf machine, it does have some nice features that some higher end machines do, thus making it perfectly suitable for a beginner such as myself.

My first adventure was a mixed bag of trash and me not knowing the detector that well. I hunted an 1800s church (with permission of course.) and all I got was a couple square nails and some trash.

My second was an old 1920s school that is closed. I toiled all day in some nasty heat for bunk...nada...skunked.

Third was a few weeks ago on vacation to Delaware, once again I baked all day on the well known "Coin Beach" to once again get skunked.

Yesterday things started looking up. I was hunting sidewalk strips in a late 1800s affluent neighborhood, and scored a handful of modern clad, and a dog license. I know this particular neighborhood has a lot to give so I will definitely hit it often. The surprising thing is the sidewalk strips were more fruitful than the community park.

These were my fist adventures up to this point, as long as I have time to hunt I will keep the blog updated.
