Sitting here not able to get out and swing due to 90deg plus humidity it feels like 103deg outside.
I was looking through articles related to metal detecting, and came across an article that just irritated the crap out of me.
The article is talking about a crime that happened within the past several weeks, where people went on to a historic battlefield in Virginia, and sloppily dug up artifacts on National Park Service property!
In the press release from the NPS, it clearly stated that they believe the individuals used metal detectors and digging tools to extract historical artifacts in order to sell.
Let me draw a parallel with another of my hobbies, guns. When a gun owner goes out and does something stupid and or illegal with a gun, they make all gun owners look bad. They are a detriment to the hobby and makes everyone who likes to hunt or put holes in paper look to the uninitiated to be irresponsible.
The exact same can be said for the hobby of metal detecting. Please Please Please get permission, be polite, be responsible, never hunt where it is illegal NPS land, TVA land, most state parks.
If you get caught you aren't just hurting yourself, you are hurting all of us!!
